History of the City of Santa Clara

The City of Santa Clara is the third most populous city (more than 107,000 residents) out of nine California Bay Area counties. The City is home to 4,500 companies, (employing 140,000 workers) including some of the world’s top technology firms. Its strategic central location is made up of 19.3 square miles of tree-lined neighborhoods, beautiful historic homes and thriving commercial and industrial centers. Major freeways, airports, railroads, expressways and a modern light rail system all lead the way to this business-friendly, family-oriented city.
Voted one of ten nation-wide All-American Cities in 2001, the once named “Mission City” was so chosen because it demonstrated successful resolution of community issues such as, low income housing, a safe park for children and teens, and open space restoration, through collaborated efforts of local business, government and non-profit organizations. The application read, “Santa Clara blends the best of a modern, urban metropolis with the comfortable charm of small town USA.” Throughout the community, citizens are drawn into active participation in community life, confirming that The City of Santa Clara is a great place to live, work and thrive.
